Slam Poem - ‘Cannibal Kids’ - Why Poetry Matters - BBC Two (via BBC)

It’s National Poetry Day here in the UK. One of the most rewarding, totally awesome things I’ve done is run a spoken word night for two years.

The talent and variety never failed to astound me. It led me to think about the world having two kinds of writers.

There are writers like me who take themselves terribly seriously and want to turn their creative writing into a full-blown career.

Then there are writers who write simply for the love of writing. There is no fixed goal at the end of it.

Both approaches are entirely legitimate. Both groups of writers include those who are extremely talented, and those who are less so.

I don’t know which type of writer the girl in this clip is or aspires to be, but she sure knows how to deliver poetry.

Happy National Poetry Day. Make sure you read a poem before midnight.
